ICD-10 UPDATE: Proposed Rule Moves ICD-10 Deadline Back to October 1, 2014

In an announcement on April 9th, the Department of Health and Human Services announced a proposed rule which would delay the ICD-10 compliance deadline back to October 1, 2014, institute a universal identifier number for similar entities, and will require organization covered prescribers to obtain an individual NPI #.  For more, see the proposed rule.  For a summary of the proposed rule, see HPA's summary of the proposed rule.

ICD-10 UPDATE: 5010 Enforcement Deadline Moved Back

In an announcement on March 15th, CMS' Office of E-Health Standards and Services (OESS) announced that it will not initiate enforcement action against any non-compliant entities for an additional three (3) months, through June 30, 2012, for updated HIPAA transaction standards (ASC X12 Version 5010, NCPDP Versions D.0 and 3.0).  For more, click here.
