The Foundation’s educational initiatives are aimed at increasing the quality of patient outcomes through knowledgeable, competent, and professional physicians. The goals of education are to provide activities and services for:

Announcements

  • The Otolaryngology Online Study Guide is now open.
    The Otolaryngology Online Study Guide (formerly the National Resident Online Study Guide, or NROSG) is a comprehensive online study guide that facilitates learning Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. There are over 130 published modules; all authored by practicing otolaryngologists and peer-reviewed by our education committees.
  • Due to telephone system upgrades, some fax machines were unable to receive faxes from 3:00 PM EST Wednesday June 25 until 1:00 PM EST Friday June 27.
    Please refax any documents to the Education Department at 703-683-5100.
  • New E-Book: Pocket Guide to TNM Staging of Head and Neck Cancer and Neck Dissection Classification
    Edited by Daniel G Deschler, MD and Terry Day, MD
    The new 3rd edition of this easy reference for physicians defines anatomic boundaries of lymph node dissections and fundamental principles of standardized terminology. 
  • 2007 Annual CME Physician Transcripts
    2007 Annual Transcripts were mailed the final week of January 2008. The annual transcript is a summary of all CME credits earned through AAO-HNSF-sponsored activities during the calendar year; physician members receive a complimentary copy. See our CME Information Page to learn more, or contact the Department of Education if you have not yet received your 2007 Annual Transcript.
  • COOL Has Been Redesigned
    All of our existing COOL case studies have been redesigned.  We also have exciting new COOL cases available: Pharyngitis, Dysphagia, and Sleep Medicine for the General Practitioner.  Check back soon for Office Management of Nasal Congestions, and Chronic Cough. Spread the word about COOL to your colleagues, local hospital medical staff, and local medical schools.

CME Policies & Guidelines
The AAO-HNS/F's mission is to "help our members achieve excellence and provide the best ear, nose, and throat care through professional and public education, research, and health policy advocacy." The AAO-HNS Foundation is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing education for physicians. The Foundation sponsors, co-sponsors, and jointly-sponsors a number of education activities.
